BUDGETS, ASB
A daunting challenge for any athletic director is the creation of a comprehensive balanced budget. Building a budget, an activity typically scheduled during the spring months, takes the coordinated and collaborative effort of at minimum, the athletic director, activities coordinator, bookkeeper, ASB officers, and coaches. Budgets must consider who has access to funds, what fundraising will be done to help drive revenue, and how funds meet Title IX guidance. Budgets should also consider all sources of revenue including, but not limited to, gate receipts, ASB fundraised dollars, and money donated through booster or support groups, and associated student fees.
A clear, well-constructed budget is an important tool as an athletic director communicates with coaches during the school year, as a clear understanding of how finances are allocated provides all athletic department personnel clear parameters to help them run all programs.
